Operation Boost Curaçao

Curaçao
Curaçao is an island in the southern Caribbean Sea, off the Venezuelan coast, that forms part of the Dutch Caribbean. The Country of Curaçao, which includes the main island plus the small, uninhabited island of Klein Curaçao (“Little Curaçao”), is a constituent country of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

Prior to 10 October 2010, when the Netherlands Antilles was dissolved, Curaçao was administered as the Island Territory of Curaçao, one of five island territories of the former Netherlands Antilles.

Size
Curaçao has a population of over 150,000 on an area of 444 km2 (171 sq mi) and its capital is Willemstad.

Poverty
Currently about 25.000 residents of Curaçao receive earn below poverty standards, most of them living in piteous circumstances. At first glance this does not seem much, but out of an entire population of 130.000 it counts for about 20 percent of the population. This causes serious issues like illicit drug trade, single teen moms and drop-outs. Most kids are raised by single mothers that are also responsible for the flow of income, leaving many kids with minimal or no care when school wraps up (at noon).

Education
Public education is based on the Dutch educational system and besides the public schools, private and parochial schools are also available. Since the introduction of a new public education law in 1992, compulsory primary education starts at age six and continues six years, secondary lasts for another five.

Operation Boost
After decent research Operation Boost will start in the last six months of 2014 a Social Franchise (Enterprise) Pilot Project around Plastic Recycling in Curaçao.

The beautiful bottle walls hide the botlles where they are made of and are a foot thick and have beautiful colors. We are a quiet and refreshing alternative to the noisy grubby hotels in town and other places, but unlike other lodges in the area we offer good value and perfect service for less money!

It will be built by the local youngsters and teenage mothers employing their time-honored traditional craftsmanship and using local natural materials and as said plastic bottles to clean up their own environment. An unbelievable story in itslefs.

Each room is furnished with cultural wooden style beds, bedsides table and chairs and wash basin. Mosquito nets are provided and the rooms are regularly fumigated with the smoke of local plants, which gives you day and night a wonderfull local experience.
